Outrageous New Extremes

21 Jan

the old lady says I’m afraid of money
maybe I’m addicted to poverty
I spend it as quick as I get it, that’s what’s funny
I’m the sucker every business man wants me to be

everyone keeps waking up tomorrow
except the ones that died the day before
well it’s a labor just to steal or beg or borrow
and the same old waves keep washing up on to the shore

and there ain’t nothing new here socially that’s interesting
except maybe our crime is much more than it seems
there ain’t nothing happening now we haven’t seen before
except maybe the outrageous new extremes
are we breaking ground now
the outrageous new extremes

heard a man say what we need right now’ s another war
nothing like that to help the economy
read a history book and it looks like they said that before
I’m feeling afraid that’s the way it will always be

and there ain’t nothing new politically that’s interesting
except maybe the way the politician dreams
there ain’t nothing happening now we haven’t seen before
except maybe the outrageous new extremes

tell me what you’re doing tomorrow
my camel’s back has got two humps
I got an extra seat that you can borrow
we can start our own crusade, if you don’t mind the bumps

cause there ain’t nothing new religiously that’s interesting
except maybe the choirs’ songs are tearful screams
there ain’t nothing happening now we haven’t seen before
except maybe the outrageous new extremes

men out in space are coming down now
swimming through this new world you could drown now
the outrageous new extremes
a brand new idea is only a hand me down now
same old kings are fighting for the crown now
all of everything is what it seems
the outrageous new extremes
