Dance

24 Nov

your lonely thoughts of yesteryear
wishing you could have them here
but time will not agree another chance

consider it a sweet ballet
you’ve silken tights and gold lamee
so tragic that you never learned to dance

when all was said, you’d nothing done
no penance paid to anyone
the orchestra played on for those who did

in time they found you told untruths
for needing how the pain it soothes
for your life not a beggar’s price they bid

your worth was taken not as much
dirt and lies no one would touch
you prayed for their forgiveness to be saved

And without answering your call
They filed out singing one and all
“You’re mixed up in the message and depraved”
